INSPIRE 2012 - First STCS Alumni event in school

For the first time in the history of St. Thomas' Church School past students are organizing an all-batch meet in the school premises. This will  perhaps be the cornerstone of our joint efforts.

We have about 700 registered members in the forum till date. Past students from batches as early as 1968 are on board. There are many unknown success stories among us.

We are taking an initiative to share some such inspiring stories at an event aptly titled INSPIRE 2012 to be held in the school on August 5, 2012.

INSPIRE 2012 will bring together past students, old and new teachers, school management to listen to some inspiring stories that began years ago in the school itself. These stories will ignite thoughts and inspire the next generation of flag bearers to hold the STCS flag high.

We request your kind presence and an active participation in a story sharing session at INSPIRE 2012 on August 5, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the auditorium of St. Thomas’ Church School, Howrah.

Mumbai meet September 2011

STCS ex-students in Mumbai met on September 18 at Juhu. It was a fun filled conversation over coffee overlooking the beach.

We laughed and giggled at our memories from school, discussed how to engage group members in Mumbai in a better way and updates from our Kolkata team on alumni registration.

We are planning to organize an NGO meet on Sunday, October 8, 2011 (updates soon).

Student Speak

The year of passing may be wrong (I'm an absent minded guy now) but I really need to know about my old buddies like Ujjwal Satra our captain, Manikuntala Sengupta (we the boys used to love her a lot), Deepa, Dibyendu and many others whom I still remember.I wonder they might have forgotten me. I cannot forget our principal Mr.G.W.Jordan, Mr.Mukherjee our very strict chemistry teacher, Mr. Dilip Das our biology teacher, our drawing teacher Mrs.Manna.

It's wonderful indeed to know that there was an alumni meet organised a months ago, which I missed. I look forward If there any get together of this kind in near future takes place, please inform me,I'll love to be there.Never mind if no one remembers me from my school, it will be my satisfaction only, that I am still in touch with my school.

This meeting was for a purpose and everyone ensured we did so. The STCS Mumbai Alumni Chapter was unanimously renamed STCS Mumbai Family. Over a few cuppa coffee we discussed the Alumni roadmap and shared some light moments cherishing our school days.

Important things discussed during the meeting:

Each One Reach One Campaign: You must have already noticed that we have already started promoting the campaign. The aim of the campaign is to get all Thomasites registered on a global alumni database. If you have already registered than you have to get all your batchmates, seniors and juniors registered too! Go ahead and promote the Alumni Register. For details visit http://bit.ly/dixq3x

Serve your Alma Mater: If you are a professional and are willing to help the school in general and the existing students in particular then come forward or push your friend forward to conduct a workshop in school. For details get in touch with us on stcsalumni@gmail.com

Scholarships: We discussed the idea of providing scholarships for deserving students and the ones who are unable to pay their fees. The candidates would be decided by the school administration. We seek every members feedback on this.

Mumbai Family Charity Event: We discussed the idea of taking up a social programme on the last Sunday, June 27th 2010. If you know of any NGO in Mumbai working for underpriviledged children then let us know. We will visit and support these kids in cash or kind based on one's decision. We will share details soon. We would also invite people from other cities to take up similar activity in their respective city.

Lighter Moments: It is difficult to explain in words the fun and excitement we had discussing the silly pranks we played in school, talking about our classmates and remembering our teachers. Not to forget some special people who were remembered that day.
